Music

Wow! I went to Avery Fisher hall last night to see conductor Lorin Maazel's birthday celebration. It was amazing. I've never been to the symphony before, so my culture points just went through the roof. Didn't know any of the music at all. It was all composed by the conductor over the last decade or so. Just great. One of the pieces was a musical version of "The Giving Tree" (look it up you uncultured slobs!) with narration by Lorin's (yeah, good friend of mine. We're on first name bases) wife. (why would I bother to know her name? She's just a woman.) Then, after that, another story with narration but was composed by Lorin. This was called "The Empty Pot". It's a chinese story that also can be looked up. Duh! Anyway, It was narrated by Jeremy Irons. man was that kewl!! Anyway, then there were irish jigs. It was really kewl overall. I plan to go again. Maybe this time i'll wear something a bit more presentable. Last night since the streets were disgusting and the weather was cold, and I had no time or forebearance that I'd be going to the symphony after work, and so went in the slob clothes I wear to the lab. Had fun. Some strange lady asked me how I liked the first part of the performance during the intermission. Weird-o. I was polite though. And that's ALL i was. Afterwards, dinner at a spanish restaurant. (why does every spanish restaurant (read SPANISH and not mexican or mexican't) only take cash or AMEX? I thought Visa was everywhere you wanted to be, and that mastercard was priceless.) I digress. Dinner was delish. So was the sangria. Don't ask the name of the place. It;s on columbus. you can venture for it yourself. Near Harry's burritos. Across from China fun and one block south of the Chase. On the East side of the street. Now you can find it too. Gambas! Anything else? No? Fine then, then fine!
